The L.A. Jewish Film Festival runs for the week between Wednesday May 18th and May 25th on this schedule. Exec. Director Hilary Helstein discusses some of this year's offerings, from their red-carpet event in Beverly Hills. On the 50th anniversary of Israeli musical Kuni Lemel," original host of "Let's Make a Deal,"Monty Hall presents Kuni Lemel actor, Mike Burstyn, a lifetime achievement award on behalf of the Festival. Mr. Burstyn answers audience questions about the film and his career. Actor, Eric Edelstein, discusses the Jewish-American comedy he stars in, "The Pickle Recipe," and lays-out L.A. Jewish delis he frequents- for visitors to note.

George Schlatter, and George Shapiro (Mr. Reiner's nephew and "Seinfeld" producer) pose on the red-carpet and mingle with actors Lainie Kazan and Jon Voight.

The L.A. Jewish Film Festival premiered a week of screenings with "Tony Curtis: Driven to Stardom." A panel discussion, moderated by Hollywood columnist and historian, Pete Hammond, brought out anecdotes from family and actors who co-starred in Tony Curtis / Bernie Schwartz pictures, including Mimi van Doren and Sally Kellerman. Several movie colleagues and friends, such as Stella Stevens, also attended, through the coordination of motion picture and television research archivist, Marvin Paige.

Screening of 100 Voices: A Journey Home. It's a beautiful and uplifting story that focuses on modern day cantors (including Cantor Nathan Lam) who band together on a concert tour inside Poland. Visiting the Warsaw ghetto and other central sites they retrace physical streets and bring forth the rich heritage that thrived in pre-war Poland.
The surprise of the film is that the beautiful Jewish culture their fathers embraced during the golden age of cantors is now being brought back by the Polish people who enjoy the music as much as we do. It's fascinating.
