Thousands of Israelis pray Selichot at Judaism's holiest site, the Wailing Wall in East Jerusalem

Thousands of people gathered on Monday night to pray at the holiest site in Jerusalem- in front of the Wailing (Western) Wall (remnant of the Second Temple) in the Old City of East Jerusalem.

With Rabbis leading prayers of penitence, called Slichot, thousands gathered before Yom Kippur, the day of atonement, which started on Tuesday 26 September.

Obama taboos "blaspheming" review of Islamist anti-Judaism (and the tax-exempt status of religious groups condemning its facilitators)

Both historic and contemporary Islam and Christianity slander Judaism and Jews. Arab countries produce blood-libelous broadcast dramas vilifying Jews. In his "The Passion of the Christ," Mel Gibson contrived and disseminated a vile, Jew-condemning depiction of Jesus' plight.  Though it was an extremist interpretation, far outside the mainstream of Christian scholarship, Jews did not riot from offense.

Since the al-Qaeda 9/11 attack in Benghazi, Libya (which Islamists scapegoated the Coptic video, "Innocence of Muslims" about) laws to control "blasphemy" are being suddenly considered. "Jihad" includes social violence to intimidate individuals into subjugating themselves to Islamic political control- which includes prohibition on criticizing Islam or Muslim actions consistent with Islam and sharia law. Part of this dogma involves recapturing lands once dominated by Muslims- especially lands deemed to be holy to Islam, such as Jerusalem. Arabic-studies scholar, Prof. Mordechai Kedar, explains how, for political purposes, Jerusalem was deemed holy for Moslems in this original video filmed in Jerusalem.

On Erev Yom Kippur, hours before most sacred day in the Jewish calendar (when the U.N. has slated Iran's Ahmadinejad to speak), Pres. Obama used his podium address at the United Nations to declare: "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam."  Would this "slander" apply to condemning Islamic dogma (scriptural or interpretive) inspiring Muslim political imperialism against the West?  Or against Israel?

To what extent should rabbis and cantors address these threats to Jews and to Israel?  And to what extent ought they be raised in sermons or presentations within the synagogue?  Should the clergy be advocating an Israeli political policy of Israel ceding Jewish land & communities in Judea & Samaria to create an Islamist State of Palestine?

Israeli-American Cantor Yaakov Motzen of New Jersey and South Florida discussed this with me on a visit to L.A. this spring.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State has sent a letter to churches and synagogues warning that the I.R.S. does enforce the "no politicking" rule by revoking its tax-exempt status. Will the Obama administration's I.R.S. hassle synagogues for discussions of "blasphemous" Islamic anti-Zionism?  How about for discussing a presidential candidate's record (or future) regarding Israel or the Jewish condition?

The A.U.S.C.S.'s website states that Tax law prohibits 501(c)3 groups from supporting or opposing candidates. Houses of worship may:
  • Discuss public policy issues
  • Sponsor non-partisan voter registration and encourage voting as good civic behavior,
  • Sponsor candidate forums, as long as all leading candidates are invited and a broad range of issues is discussed.
  • Urge congregants to communicate with candidates and make their concerns known to them.

    Houses of worship may not:
  • Issue statements endorsing or opposing candidates.
  • Donate money to a candidate.
  • Offer sanctuary space to one candidate and refuse it to another.
  • Sponsor rallies for candidates in church.

Gov. Mitt Romney: "And I look at the Palestinians not wanting to see peace anyway, for political purposes, committed to the destruction and elimination of Israel, and these thorny issues, and I say there's just no way. And so what you do is you say you move things along the best way you can. You hope for some degree of stability, but you recognize that it's going to remain an unsolved problem. I mean, we look at that in China and Taiwan. All right, we have a potentially volatile situation, but we sort of live with it. And we kick the ball down the field and hope that ultimately, somehow, something will happen and resolve. We don't go to war to try and resolve it."

Mitt Romney Tells the Key Truth Needed to Comprehend the Israel-Palestinian Conflict

So much has the debate been shifted “that what thirty years ago was a common-sense given is now considered a landmark breakthrough,”  — Victor Davis Hanson.
You see, here’s what you have to do. You’ve got to take the most basic logical statements — the ones absolutely necessary to understand reality — and rule them out of bounds. For example, there’s nothing wrong with the economy. To say so is, well, racist. And there’s nothing wrong with a government policy that refuses to control the country’s borders. To say so is, well, racist. In fact, you can’t criticize this U.S. government at all because to do so is, well, racist.
And you can’t point out that America’s problem in the Middle East is not due to an obscure video on YouTube but to a massive revolutionary Islamist movement determined to destroy American influence in the region, take over every country there, smash the Christians, subordinate the women, impose a dictatorship, and commit genocide against Israel. Yep, you got it! Racist again!

Sommelier reveals which libations are good (and kosher) for your holidays

For one, literally, Rosh Hashana doesn’t mean "new year" but rather "head of the year," which we’ll explain a little later. And secondly, Rosh Hashanah is not something of parochial significance just to Jews so that it should be classified as exclusively "Jewish." Actually, the day is relevant to every human being, and indeed, every created being in the entire universe, for Rosh Hashanah is the day that commemorates G-d’s creation of the world. So if you’re looking for conceptual translation of the name, Rosh Hashanah should really be called the Anniversary of Creation. Indeed, the new calendar year that Rosh Hashanah ushers in is the number of years from the creation, the number value of the current Jewish year being the age of the universe. Rabbi Yaakov Salomon of Aish reminds us of the special importance of prayer, atonement, and renewal to make your Hebrew New Year, Rosh Hashana, meaningful. (from Ask Moses- What is the deeper meaning of Rosh Hashana?)

Rosh Hashana is an historic day - Adam and Eve were created. Abraham and Jacob were brought into this world Joseph was released from 12-years of incarceration. Sarah, who had been barren, had her prayers answered - it was decreed that she would have children. Hannah, was given a child who would become the prophet Samuel. Rachel, who gave birth to Joseph, was remembered on Rosh Hashana.

“This is delicious!” exclaims a friend, tasting a wine and requesting a second glass. “Are you sure it’s Kosher?” If you are celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, this year, you are in for a delicious treat.

BlogCritics publishes Marisa D'Vari's article on kosher wines she recommends:
For much of our families' lifetimes, most families sipped the sweet, grape-y Manishevitz. Today you will find some excellent, affordable, and delicious Kosher wines being produced in regions around the world that quite often outshine non-Kosher wines at a similar price point. If you are hosting a large party, you might take the opportunity to stock up on several different Kosher wines so you can serve a few as an aperitif, and then pair them with different courses. At the end of the evening, you might also ask your guests which wines they liked the best, and make note of your favorites for your next trip to the wine shop. Most of these wines are so delicious you will want to serve them all year round.
Recently President of the Society of Wine Educators, Certified Wine Educator, Ira Norof  spoke with JooTube.TV regarding  quality kosher wines and spirits being sampled at the L.A. Times epicurean fair "The Taste" over Labor Day Weekend.

Mr. Norof explains how the Herzog company has made kosher versions of local wine varieties from different countries which rival their non-kosher competitors'.  Herzog now produces Scotches which are kosher, and also was demonstrating their tequilas, which are not.

Obama's anti-democracy 'chickens' roost on 9/11- catalyzing criminalization of 'slander of Islam' and its political imperialism

Washington fails to confront Islamism - since it claims to be only opposing the Jewish State repressing a "Palestinian State" which wouldn't challenge Jewish sovereignty over Israel.

Obama helped replace Mubarak with Islamist Mohamed Morsi (pictured)

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood rose to power with the support of the Obama administration's assistance in deposing Israeli-peace partner Pres. Hosni Mubarak. On the occasion of 9/11/11, Morsi-supported, Islamist protesters attacked both the US embassy in Cairo, and a US consulate in Benghazi, Libya- killing the staff of 4 (and reportedly raping US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens).  Pres. Barack Obama will make time to meet with Egypt's Morsi (who, despite the US having given Egypt $70 billion, is now removing Egypt's ally-ship with the US) during his visit to the U.S. next week.  Pres. Obama will not, however, make an opportunity to meet with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to the U.S. to address the United Nations, despite his delaying military action against Iran's nuclear weapons production at Obama's behest to give inadequate sanctions further time.  Iran continues to enrich uranium and move their equipment to underground facilities, impervious to Israeli or U.S. bombing. Netanyahu is America's best ally in the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia as the remaining one.

The assault had initially been thought to have been a spontaneous reaction to protests over an anti-Islamic film, but there is now speculation it was a long-planned ambush on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack, or a revenge attack for death of an al Qaeda official in June in Yemen
It has been suggested that the attack was in retaliation for the death of an al Qaeda official, which was confirmed this week and that should have meant security would have been high at the U.S embassy in the troubled region. reaction to protests over an anti-Islamic film, but there is now speculation it was a long-planned ambush on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack, or a revenge attack for death of an al Qaeda official in June in Yemen.
State Department officials said the two incidents at the diplomatic missions were not related and said they believe the Benghazi violence was a 'clearly planned attack.'
Officials have voiced their concern that the attack was timed for the 11th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, which were commemorated across the U.S. on Tuesday.
'We've been talking for years about the desire of al Qaeda, radical jihadists to celebrate the anniversary of 9/11,' Pete Hoekstra, former chairman of the House intelligence committee, told FoxNews.com. 'All my background, all of the conversations that I've had over the last 18 hours, lead many people to believe that this was just more than a mere coincidence.'
He added that Al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahri recently released a video calling on militants to attack Americans for revenge for the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi in Pakistan - and that the anti-Mohammed film could have been a cover.
A London think tank run by a former Libyan militant leader also suggested on Tuesday that not only was the Benghazi attack 'well planned', but that it may have been retaliation. The Quilliam Foundation said that 24 hours before the Benghazi incident, al Qaeda leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, distributed a video to militant websites in which he confirmed the death of his second in command, Abu Yahya al-Libi, and urged Libyans to avenge his killing.
The Blaze reports:  Experts claim real reason for embassy attacks is much more sinister

Major Stephen Coughlin
Cited as the Pentagon’s leading expert on Islamic law, Stephen Coughlin also caught up with TheBlaze to talk about the “ten-year plan” that was drafted by Islamists in 2005 intended to make Islamic slander a crime — not just in Islamic countries, but across the globe.

“And now they are putting that into action,” he said pointedly.

Coughlin explained that there was never an “Arab Spring,” but rather, a “Salafist-Muslim Brotherhood takeover” in the Middle East and that accepting that fact is key to understanding Islamists’ strategy.

He asked for people think back to the disproportionate outrage that ensued in the Muslim community over the Pope’s 2009 comments about Islamic tyranny, and to the fist Quran burning in Florida led by pastor Terry Jones.

Both incidents, according to the attorney and scholar, were actually first reported on in the Muslim world not Western media. The goal, he claimed, was to “manufacture an event” with which to incite violence and ultimately “subordinate the U.S. First Amendment.“ It was engineered ”to get President Bush, Obama, whoever…to say ‘sorry.’” Thus the goal is to compel the West to blame the West for bringing violence upon itself.
