Explore exotic foods, spirits, recipes and fun at the annual LA Times "The Taste" culinary fest over Labor Day Weekend

The Taste, the L.A. Times' annual Labor Day weekend celebration of the Southern California culinary scene features distinctive restaurants, dynamic demonstrations and topical discussions.

The schedule: Opening Night – Fri., Aug. 29th, 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. The Taste’s most intimate event brings together the weekend’s hosts, chefs and bartenders, including The Times’ renowned Food staff, for a special opening night soirĂ©e with a focused collection of tastings, premium cocktail and wine offerings, and live entertainment. 


Field to Fork – Sat., Aug. 30th, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Russ Parsons, Times Food Editor, lends his farmers market savvy and sustainable sensibility to a day inspired by fresh, seasonal dishes made lovingly with local ingredients. 

Dinner with a Twist – Sat., Aug. 30th, 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. Betty Hallock, Times Deputy Food Editor, and Jonathan Gold, Times Restaurant Critic, collaborate for an evening destined to deliver this town’s tastiest plates and complementary pours. 


Sunday Brunch – Sun., Aug. 31st, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Noelle Carter, Times Test Kitchen Director, starts Sunday Funday with an homage to the most beloved mash-up of mealtimes, brunch. 


Flavors of L.A. – Sun., Aug. 31st, 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. Jonathan Gold, Times Restaurant Critic, will bring it home with a tour of the world’s most authentic flavors through essential L.A.-based chefs and local restaurants. 


Los Angeles Times The Taste presented by Citi is produced in association with Best Events. Sponsors include Buick and Hornitos Tequila. Opening Night tickets are $150. Tickets for each of the Saturday and Sunday events range from $100 to $125 and a $25 discount on individual tickets is available exclusively to Los Angeles Times members.
